This morning, the Passaat comes home again after 1800 kilometers across Italy, France, Belgium and Netherlands again here in Friesland, after seven years in the charter on the Lake Como. Starting next season, this ship will be sailingon the Belgian and French waterways. Here is a brief look back: The Passaat in 2004, also in November.

19.10.11 Last crew on PASSAAT in Italy

An era comes to an end : The last crew on the aft deck of the Passaat in the yacht harbor Como.
From left to right: Sytze , George, Diana and Greta. George and Diana accompanied seven years the guests who were with holiday on the SIMMERSKIP 1200 AK on the Lake Como, with much joy and personal commitment.
In mid-November , the ship comes back to maintenance to Sneek in order to complement our fleet from the 2012 season in Ghent , Belgium .

25.08.11 Neue Vissermanaak in unserer Plattbodenflotte

SULIS, a 12.20 meters Hoekaak for 6 - (8) persons. On the photo below you see clearly the new deck layout of SULIS , to port and starboard bench seats are installed , the entrance into the ship is enlarged and gets a sliding door, right in the middle of the open cockpit a "doghouse" is placed, which provides access to the two new berths in "achteronder" . so it becomes a perfect ship voor 6 persons.
Soon you will find a documentation of the renovation and additional pictures.

28.06.11 Canal de l'Espierres opend again

Possible new route in Belgium, the Canal de l'Espierres, the connection of the Scheldt and Deule is since begin of June opened again (was closed 25 years for shipping), it is now possible to sail from the Schelde to the Leie, small locks, beautiful nature ... Our suggested route shortweek Schelde-Leie can now be extended to one week tour, including two days sailing in France.
Nice to see that not only in Friesland (Friese Meren project) people are busy to open up old routes again, which allow our guests with our ships, nice boating holidays in Friesland and in Belgium too.

07.06.11 The German Ambassador in the Netherlands visited province Friesland

Today, the German Ambassador in the Netherlands, Heinz-Peter Behr (photo 2nd from left), visited the province of Friesland. Main topics of his visit were renewable and alternative energy, not only theoretically but also very practical, so he was chauffeured with the new, electrically-driven Mercedes from the province and he spent the lunch aboard our electrically driven motor yacht Simmer Twirre.

Thursday afternoon we had a film crew from "Dream Green District" on board from our hybrid ship SIMMER Twirre. Dream Green District is a Dutch TV show to present inventions of young inventors. This show runs Saturdays in the early evening on Dutch television in "National Geographic", enriched by information clips on alternative energy, sustainability, ... from practice. The team took our electric boat as an opportunity to show that you can on the one hand sail a large boat electrically and with the use of green electricity, this also can be environmentally friendly (the newly installed charging stations for boats in the communities here in Friesland be powered by a quota alternatively generated electricity)

The stand from Yachtcharter Gent and Yachtcharter Sneek at the Belgian Boat Show in Gent, on thkgrond the Waterspoor 630, one from four sloops which can be rented at base Gent. Nice boats for 8 persons, with electric engine, perfect suited for a daytrip in Ghent to see the historic town, or alternativ a trip on the Leie to feel the beautiful nature.

Icebreaker in our harbor winter 2010. If the water is too thick ( if frozen ) , we have to break the ice in our harbor, so we can go on with care and maintenance of the ships. Each boat comes in winter for a few days in our hall , the hulls will be checked for damage and repainted . Therefore, we must ensure that we can maneuver our boats in the harbor . On Saturday we have broken the ice with our Duetvlet 900 ... a strong ice-breaker .

20.10.2010 Electric power for recreational craft - Inauguration of the first 380 volt charger in Sneek

This afternoon at 15.30 clock the first 380-volt charging station in a port in Sneek was opend. Sneek is the first town in Friesland, which has built such a charging station. This waspossible, inter alia, by grants from the province of Friesland, which make 175,000 euros available in the next two years for such projects. Therefore, in this act, both local celebrities in person the City Council Tom Metz (among other things responsible for sports and recreation) and Jannewietske de Vries, in the province of Friesland, the position of minister for among other thingsfor Culture, Tourism, ... were present.
The electricity in the city of Sneek will be gratis, guests only have to pay for the night.

The ceremony, Jannewietske de Vries and Tom Metz, close to the SIMMERTWIRRE. On the aft deck of the Simmer Skips * 1200 AK-cruise-hybrid you see Sytze Kooi, Director of Yachtcharter Sneek. The events surrounded by journalists who want to capture this moment for eternity .

After the ceremony there was for the celebrities and the journalists the opportunity for "electric" test-drive on the SIMMERTWIRRE.

We proudly present now three electrically powered boats in our fleet. From now on our two Duetvlet AK 980 are equipped with hybrid drive. Last week, the units could be built in, it is the first existing motor yachts in the Netherlands in which the electric motor acts as a generator and recharges the batteries when it is driven with the conventional diesel engine..

This year we are with a very small stand at the fair BOOT HOLLAND in Leeuwarden. We are there in combination with SEFF (Stichting elektrisch varen in Friesland). SEFF is working together with Friesland for more boats here with electrical engines. On this big stand there are several frisisan and dutch companies too, which are able to build in hybrid motor in a boat.

By the reports of a boating journey there is again a new link, Christa, Andrea and Georg are one week in Friesland on the way with our new SIMMERSKIP 1050*cruise XL, NOA DELANO. Despite the surely difficult conditions and not always easy and unencumbered situation on the way on board it's again an interesting and read-worth report on a boating journey with nice photo's too. Electric drive for Zuiderzee Museum Enkhuizen Boeier TJET RIXT

We feel it as a compliment that the Zuiderzee museum Enkhuizen gave us the confidence, to equip the TJET RIXT, the oldest sailing Boeier (1843) in Netherland, with an electrical engine.
At the maritime weekend 15./16.08.09 at in the Zuiderzee museum you can see this splendourful ship (with new electric drive) sailing in Enkhuizen.
