The next day you are in Oudenaarde, the city has about 29,000 inhabitants. Oudenaarde is sometimes called the "jewel of the Flemish Ardennes. Oudenaarde has a magnificent Town Hall in the Brabant Gothic style, built by the Brussels architect Hendrik van Pede 1527-1530, and is famous for its tapestries.
Via Merelbeke and Deinze and the Lys down you reach Ghent again.
