The 2 week tour Belgium - France takes you from the port of Ghent on the world heritage city of Bruges (one of the most beautiful cities in Europe) between the winding alleys and romantic canals of Bruges encounter a wealth of museums, which reflects in turn form an impressive image of the city's stirring history. The following port is Ostend, this place is also known as the "Queen of resorts" and is a vibrant city with its picturesque corners, a cozy entertainment area and a varied cuisine with about 300 restaurants.
About Veurne (capital of the district) go to France now and reach Dunkirk. About Saint Omer (the - largely untouched by the war - the best preserved city of the region) it goes to Merville and on to Wervik where you see the passers-port on the island, "De Balokken" a good place for overnight.
Via Kortrijk, about 9 kilometers from the French border you reach Bossuit. The next day you are in Oudenaarde, the city has about 29,000 inhabitants. Oudenaarde is sometimes called the "jewel of the Flemish Ardennes. Oudenaarde has a magnificent Town Hall in the Brabant Gothic style, built by the Brussels architect Hendrik van Pede 1527-1530, and is famous for its tapestries.
Via Merelbeke and Deinze and the Lys down you reach Ghent again.
