Menaldum is considered to the friesischen term for pastureland shank as agriculture center and is appropriate in the junction region between the field and horticulture area and the "Greidhoek". The "Meanaermerfeart", which was in old times an important water route for the transport of products of agriculture, is today a calm, contemplative driving water. Beside the bridge the characteristic city hall stands from the year 1843.
